PROCTOR, MN (KDAL) – The Proctor Fire Department called for mutual aid from the Duluth Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team in responding to a chlorine gas issue at the AmericInn on Highway 2 in Proctor.
The gas leak, reported just after 11 a-m Wednesday, apparently originated from the mixing of cleaning chemicals in a drain.
Hotel staff and guests were safely evacuated as the fire fighters ventilated the building for about an hour using positive pressure fans.
People were able to return to the building and the fire departments cleared the scene at 12:18 p-m.
