DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Fire Department is urging anglers and others to stay off the ice on the bay side of Park Point until conditions improve.
Recent warm temperatures have led to the formation of large cracks and fissures in the ice and some areas of open water.
It is unsafe for ice fishing and other recreational activities on Superior Bay at this time.
The Fire Department also reminds the public that wind conditions play an important factor in the safety of ice on large bodies of water.
The Twin Ports forecast calls for continued above normal temperatures along with rain and winds from the southeast gusting to 25 miles per hour on Thursday and Thursday night becoming westerly on Friday.
