DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Starting now until the end of April, Chester Bowl has a matching donation opportunity for the ongoing “Growing Up Chester” capital campaign to expand and renovate the ski hill’s chalet.
An anonymous donor has pledged 50 thousand dollars to the effort if it is matched with community donations by April 30th.
Chester Bowl’s Executive Director, Dave Schaeffer, says the donor is motivated by a love for alpine skiing and ski racing and hopes that generosity inspires others to help in their efforts.
The public phase of the “Growing Up Chester” fundraiser began a year ago and has raised about 740 thousand dollars toward the 2.7 million cost of the building’s renovation and expansion.
The City of Duluth will also be applying for outside funding for the second phase of the project.
The current chalet is outdated, too small for programming needs, not accessible to all and in extreme disrepair.
