DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Fire Department had a busy Friday evening, responding to two structure fires within an hour and a half of each other.
The first, at 6:38 p-m, was to a business at 2601 West Superior Street where a dumpster fire had spread to the exterior of the building.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it penetrated to the interior. Damage was estimated at about ten thousand dollars.
Then, at 7:59 p-m, crews were sent to a fire at a four unit apartment building at 619 North 10th Avenue East.
They found heavy smoke on the first floor of the building and Duluth Police assisted in the safe evacuation of two residents.
The fire was contained to just one unit in the building but all four apartments sustained some smoke damage.
Damage was estimated at 20 thousand dollars and no injuries were reported at either fire.
