DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – During a press conference on Wednesday, Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert announced the formation of a working group that will review tourism marketing practices and identify areas for improvement.
The working group is chaired by Karen Pionk, the Sheraton Duluth Hotel General Manager and includes representatives from various stakeholders that include local businesses, tourism organizations and community leaders.
Mayor Reinert wants to ensure that funds allocated for tourism marketing are effectively invested back in the city.
The marketing firm Bellmont Partners, a Twin Cities based company, currently has a contract with Duluth to handle the city’s tourism advertising. That contract will expire at the end of this year.
