DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A band of smoke from wildfires in northeast British Columbia, Canada moved into northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin on Sunday.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued an air quality alert into Monday for the region.
The maximum smoke impacts were Sunday afternoon and evening but are expected to linger into early Monday.
Those with lung disease, heart issues, children and older adults should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion and keep windows closed to prevent the smoke from getting indoors.
The current Air Quality Advisory will be updated Monday after the situation is reassessed.
