DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The prescribed fire that escaped its boundaries in the Superior National Forest was 75 percent contained as of late Thursday afternoon.
Rain along with high humidity levels and cooler temperatures helped firefighters to subdue the fire that burned about 265 acres in the Tofte Ranger District.
The Fry fire was started as a prescribed burn on Wednesday morning and declared a wildfire that afternoon.
Ground crews and water dropping aircraft were called in to battle the blaze. The fire is not an immediate threat to private property or structures.
