DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Assessors Department has begun touring flood damaged homes and businesses and are reminding property owners affected by the flooding on June 18th to complete damage reports.
The form can be obtained online at stlouiscountymn.gov or by calling 218-726-2604.
The form typically takes just a few minutes to complete and owners are encouraged to submit pictures showing the damage.
Assessors have already visited nearly 200 properties in Cook and will be touring more communities next week.
As long as there are pictures of the damage, property owners can begin clean up and repairs before an inspection is made.
Depending on the extent of the damage to the buildings, there is the potential for some property tax relief, such as a credit or future abatement.
Damage to driveways, landscaping, culverts and personal property such as vehicles and docks unfortunately would not qualify for relief.
