SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – Superior firefighters battled two fires, both on Oakes Avenue, on Thursday.
The first was at a residence at 1817 Oakes at 3:12 p-m. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a first floor window.
The fire was quickly extinguished and several dogs were rescued from the house.
Damage was limited to the area of origin.
At 11:26 p-m the Superior Fire Department responded to 5401 Oakes Avenue to find a large commercial building with heavy fire coming from the structure.
The large volume of fire caused the collapse of the roof and prevented firefighters from beginning an interior attack.
The building was a total loss and crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures in the area. Firefighters remained on the scene until 3:20 a-m on Friday.
The cause of both fires are under investigation and there were no injuries reported.
